Wondering if Kapitus is safe to sign with? Here is what the public record shows.

Kapitus is a real company with a long history. It started in 2006 as Strategic Funding Source and says business owners have accessed more than $5 billion through it as of March 2024 [6]. It is not a fly-by-night shop.

But size is not the same as clarity. Kapitus does not publish a factor rate or a fee list for its revenue-based financing, and its BBB rating is an F, driven by complaints it did not answer [1][9]. You can still get a fair deal here. You just have to ask for every number in writing, because the website will not give them to you.

Is it a fit for you?

It fits when

  • You have 2 or more years in business and at least $250,000 in yearly revenue [1].
  • You need a large amount, up to $5 million, and few funders will go that high [1].
  • You have a 650 score or better and want to compare a business loan and revenue-based financing from one place [1][2].
  • You are buying equipment and want a published starting rate of 7.5% with no early payoff penalty [4].

Look elsewhere when

  • You want to see a price before you apply; no factor rate is published for revenue-based financing [1].
  • You have been open less than 2 years; every main Kapitus product asks for 2 [1][2][3].
  • You want your file kept with one company; Kapitus may refer it to its financing network [5].
  • You need fast answers when things go wrong; BBB says Kapitus failed to respond to 5 complaints [9].

Our verdict: 2.2 out of 5

Kapitus scores 2.2 out of 5. It reaches larger amounts than most funders in this group and has been around since 2006 [6], but almost everything our method weighs most, the price, the fees and how problems get handled after signing, is either unpublished or shows warning signs in the public record [1][9].

Kapitus is both a funder and a marketplace. Its revenue-based financing offers come from Kapitus and/or members of its financing network, its line of credit offers come through network members, and its business loans may be funded by WebBank, with the actual lender named in your agreement [2]. Read the first page of any contract to see who you are really dealing with.

Pros

  • Revenue-based financing and business loans up to $5 million [1][2].
  • Daily, weekly or monthly payment options [1].
  • No early payment penalty on business loans or equipment financing [2][4].
  • Approval in as little as 4 hours and funds in as little as 24 hours [1].

Cons

  • No published factor rate or fee list for revenue-based financing [1].
  • BBB rating of F, with 5 complaints not answered [9].
  • Your file may go to lead vendors and other financing providers [5].
  • Two years in business required for the main products [1][2].

Products, amounts and who qualifies

Kapitus calls its cash advance product revenue-based financing. It is a purchase of your future sales, not a loan, with a fixed cost set by a factor rate and paid as a percentage of revenue [1]. Kapitus also lists business loans, a line of credit, equipment financing, SBA loans, invoice factoring and purchase order financing [2].

Kapitus also lists SBA loans through its network [2]. Unlike many funders in this space, it does not take businesses under 2 years old for its main products, so newer owners should look elsewhere.

Cost, payment schedule and speed

Kapitus says revenue-based financing has a fixed cost based on a factor rate, paid with a fixed percentage of your revenue on a daily, weekly or monthly basis [1]. It does not say what that factor rate is, and it says payments continue until the financing amount and any additional fees are paid off, without listing the fees [1]. The market range for this kind of product is about 1.1 to 1.5 [10]; ask where your offer falls in it.

The one published price is on equipment financing: rates starting at 7.5% with terms up to 72 months and no penalty for paying early [4]. For everything else, the cost appears only in your offer.

Applying is fast. The online form takes about 10 minutes, you upload 3 to 6 bank statements, then you meet a Financing Specialist to discuss terms [1]. Approval can come in as little as 4 hours and qualified businesses can be funded in as little as 24 hours [1]. Before you sign, put the offer through our offer comparer to see the payback in dollars.

Complaints, collection suits and the BBB F

BBB rates Kapitus LLC an F. It lists 8 complaints in the last 3 years and gives a failure to respond to 5 of them as a reason for the rating [9]. Trustpilot shows 802 reviews, and the profile notes Kapitus has not replied to negative reviews [7].

We read the first three pages of Kapitus reviews on Oct 21, 2026: 60 reviews, 34 Verified and 26 Unprompted [7]. The 26 organic reviews averaged 3.6 stars, and 9 of them were 1-star. Five organic reviews described trouble after signing: a temporary payment cut used as grounds for default, no relief in a sales slump, and a lien that the owner says Kapitus wanted paid to release [7][8].

Kapitus also goes to court when deals go bad. In late June 2026, Kapitus Servicing filed six suits in Chesterfield and Henrico Circuit Courts in Virginia against businesses in Arizona, California, Florida, Minnesota, Colorado and the District of Columbia, each naming the owner as well, and most citing a forward purchase agreement [11]. Claims ran from $155,465 to $559,396 [11]. We found no FTC, New York or New Jersey Attorney General action naming Kapitus.

Know who you are signing with

One 1-star reviewer says they were told Kapitus was the funder and that only one credit inquiry would be made, and later found it acting as a broker [8].

Ask in writing: who is the funder on this contract, is this a loan or a purchase of receivables, and will my file go to anyone else?

Your data, support and paying early

Kapitus's privacy policy allows it to share your information with referral sources, lead vendors, advertising partners, its bank partner and third-party financing providers, including lenders and purchasers of receivables [5]. That is wider sharing than most funders in this group. You can ask Kapitus not to call you for marketing by phone at (844) 547-9396 [5].

On paying early, Kapitus says its business loans carry no early payment penalty [2]. For revenue-based financing it publishes no payoff discount at all [1], and two 1-star reviewers say an early payoff left them owing most of the original cost [8]. If early payoff matters to you, get a written payoff schedule into the contract before you sign.
